A letter was received from Mr Alfred Walker, Christchurch, accepting the office of one of the club’s delegates to the South Island Trotting Association, The Secretary reported that the Colonial Secretary had intimated that he was prepared to grant three permits for the current racing season, and that the programme for the meeting on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day had been approved. It was resolved that Mr F. A. Hooper be appointed to the vacancy on the Committee. It was also resolved that the date for naming the horses for the Tahuna Cup, to be run at the autumn meeting, be postponed from the Ist October to 29th December.

The club, wishing to encourage harness trotting at Tahuna Park, decided to purchase six sulkies, to be let out on hire for the races at their meetings at a moderate fee. A sub-committee was appointed to draw up conditions, etc.

The programme for the meeting on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day was finally passed and ordered to be issued, the stakes amounting to £550.

Marton races were continued yesterday. Results : Trial Hurdles, Storm King (£3); Electric, Lady Agnes {£s 10s); Bracelet, Puketoi (£3 4s); York Farm Handicap, Indian Shot (£3 3s); Second Hurdles, King of the Downs (£3 19-=): flack Steeples, Whakarua (£ls 15s); Welter, Lady Agnes (£2 18s).
