DR JEFFCOAT’S FUNERAL.

The funeral. took place, this afternoon, the body being conveyed from the doctor's late residence in Pitt street to the Green Island Cemetery. A large cumber of wreaths were sent, the various clubs and associations with which Dr Jeffooat had been connected forwarding these tokens: of sympathy; the business houses that showed flags had them at half-mast; and in every way the funeral .was the occasion of general sorrow—participated in by all sections of the public. About 400 persons walked behind the hearse, and * krg® number of carriages and. other Vehicles were used for the procession. The K 1-beaters were Mr W.D. Milne and Dr cpherson as personal , friends of the deceased, Mr W, L. Hooper representing the D.A.8.0., Mr Ernest Boot on behalf of the Dunedin Cycling Club, Mr W. Low .of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club, and Mr W. Guthrie representing the old High School boys. Amongst those present were the Rev. Dr Watt, Dr Coughtrey, Messrs J. H. Hosking, C. M. Mouat, F. The entire length of the procession was from the Monument to the Oval.

The following floral tributes were sent froni institutions and associations with which the late doctor was connected : Medical students at Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin Cycling Club, Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association, St. John Ambulance Association (Geneva crossof white camellias, violets, and adiantinus), former pupils at Invercargill, Dunedin Jockey Club, Students’ Association of Otago University, Tahuna Park Trdfting Club, women’s ambulance first aid class (floral cross emblematic of the work). Among the wreaths from friends were those sent by Mr and Mrs F, Montague, Mr and Mrs W. F, Edmond, Mrs Witt, Mr and Mrs Fox, Mrs L. Ferguson, Mrs Moore, J. N. Brown, Mrs Adam, Mrs A..Fulton, Mrs Finch, Mr Evans, Mr A. Wilson, Mr A. J. Burns, Dr Newell.
