DUNEDIN CYCLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The Dunedin Cycling Club held their' annual general meeting in the Chamber «f Commerce last night, when Dr Roberts presided, and there were' seventy-four members present. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The report and balance-sheet were takes as read, and on the motion of Dr Rowans, seconded by Mr C. Speight, were adopted. CLUB ROOMS. The question of new club rooms was discussed, and after the applications had been read to the meeting it was resolved that the recommendation of tho Committee in regard to the most favorable premises be given effect to, provided satisfactory arrangements can be made. RACINIi TRACK. The Chairman spoke of the necessity cf a safe and up-to-date racing track, and proposed that it is desirable that such a track be formed.—Mr R. Crow seconded.—The secretary laid bafore the meeting a plan of proposed track, also the surveyor's report and estimate. Letters from the athletic clubs were also read promising assistance.—Messrs Grierson, Speight, Jton. kinson, G. Crow, and Moodie Bpokeon triemotion, and eventually it was carried unanimously. Favorable terms were offered by the Dunedin Amateur Ground Company fop the track if made on the Carisbrook. The Chairman moved and Mr Sandbr§ seconded that a carnival be the means U raise funds necessary to build the track. Mr Speight moved and Mr R. S. Orbeli, seconded an amendment to this that an ar| union be held to raise the ueoessary funds. After a"'discussion the amendment was carried by a largo majority. REVISION OF RULES. The revised rules, as recommended by tho. Committee, were passed with a few minor alterations, though an animated discussion took place as to allowing oash amateurs tfl be included, but eventually a motion to that effect was lost. presentation of tribes. The touring medal presented by Mr A. Crow for the best written account of a tout was handed over to Mr W. R. Brugh amidst applause. Dr Fulton's medal for the beßt attendanoe at club runs was handed to Mr P. H. Brady, who wins for the third successive year. A TROPHY. A presentation of a handsome marbleclock to the sports fund was made by Br Fulton, and a unanimous vote of thanks was passed for his generous donation. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS. The election of office-bearers resulted, after a keen contest in most cases, as follows:—President, Mr C. B. Grierson-vice-presidents, Messrs W. D. Milne and Wr Melville and Drs Roberts, Fulton, Batchelor,. and Colquhoun; captain, Mr A, J. Sullivan * deputy-captain, Mr F. M'Kechnie; hou! secretary, Mr G. Moodio (re-elected); hon. sports secretary, Mr W. H. Matthews; hon. treasurer, Mr G. Frier; handieapper, Mr R. Crow; committee—Messrs R. Crow A. E. Boot, S. Minn, W. B. Bell, A. H. Tonkinßon, J. M'Millan, C. Speight, A. Aitchison • auditors, Messrs E. H. Reid and A. G. Melville. COMPLIMENTARY. Mr R. Crow moved that a presentation of a purse of sovereigns bo made to Mr A. J. Sullivan for the very valuable services he had rendered the club during the past two years. Mr Boot seconded the motion, and alto spoke in favorable terms of that gentleman's work. After a few others had referred to the motion, it was carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to the retiring officebearers and to the chair concluded an enthusiastic meeting.
