PERSONAL.
Mr George Matthewson, seoretary of the. local branch of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute, has been elected to represent the Otagd branch, in place of Mr Piper, at the Conference to be held in Wellington, commencing on the 28th inst. Mr H. G. Herbert, formerly of Wellington, who has recently been filling the position' of clerk of theMagistrate'sCourtsat Havelock and Whangarei, has been appointed chief clerk at the office of the Official Assignee in Wellington, vice Mr F. W. Mansfield, who has been appointed registrar of electors for the districts of Wellington City and Suburbs. Mr Herbert is well known in Dunedin, where until recently he occupied a position on the Official Assignee's staff, and was then known as H. G. Hoddinott.
