RECORD REIGN TROTTING MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l am sure “Another Lover of Fair Play ” must place great dependence on his book when he thinks that Little Bob actually took 4min to trot amile and a-half, and to then support Blaokie as only being able to do 4tjiin 45sec to 6min 20sec for two miles, whereas his Forbury record is smin 54sea. The assertion, as to there being fewer spratchings in Dunedin than Christchurch betrays pure ignorance, and, as he admits he is only a small sport, may be forgiven. Having in my possession a list of the entries for Plumptpn Trotjbing Club, Christchurch, I will give you the entries and acceptances so you can compare. Plumpton entries 157, acceptances 114, or nearly three out of every four acceptors. With Tabuna entries 105, acceptances to the number.of 77 should appear in Monday night’s Star. ' The latter part of “Fair Play’s” letter says “that the handicapper’s billet is to please no owner,” whereas it should be to ? lease every owner. .In reply to “ Owner,” will say he was a lucky man to get his protest money back at the Taieri.—l am, etc., Maori. Dunedin, June 11. '
