0. Stephenson (Dunedin Club) being un« able to play in the match South bland v. North Island at Wellington on the 26th inat., J. O'Brien (Linwood Club, Christchurch) takes hit place. The Melbourne Cricket Club authorities have received intimation that E. 8. Banjitdnhji has definitely promised to make one of A. E. Stoddart's team to visit Australia. A point-to-point steeplechase is to be held tt Waikonaiti on Wednesday next, under the auspices of the Dunedin Hunt Club. Annabelle has been scratched for the Hawke's Bay Hardies and Steeplechase. [.CYCLING. The Dunedin Cycling Club held a most enjoyable euchre tournament amongst the members on Thursday evening, twenty-four players forming six tables. Until Ihe last two games several of the competitors were even. Time was called at ten sharp, when it was found Mr W. Thompson had secured first prize with the excellent score of fourteen games out of a possible sixteen. Mr H. Ziele and Mr H. C. Valentine were a dead heat for second place with twelve games each. After playing off Mr Valentine came off victorious, and took second prize. Mr Reynolds Denniston and Mr R. Grierson had a tough go for the Booby prize, the latter winning through Mr Denniston getting a touch of cramp during the last game. Refreshments were handed round during the evening, and after three cheers for the winners the party broke up, all voting it a thorough success. The Caledonian Society have asked delegates from the D.C.C. to meet their (the Caledonian Society's) Ground Committee at eight o'clock on Friday next re improvement to Caledonian cycling track. FOOTBALL. The weekly Committee meeting oi the O.F.A. was held on Thursday evening, and was well attended. Delegates from the Queen's Park, Roslyn, Mornington, and Green Island Clubs were also present to consider the advisability of holding a five-i-side tournament during the record reign holidays. It was decided not to hold the tournament on account of the numerous counter attractions which will be taking place about that time. After other formal business had been disposed of, Mr Kemnitz was called on to present Mr G. M. Campbell (late secretary of the 0.F.A.) with a gold locket, inside of which was a gold plate bearing the following inscription:—" To Geo. M. Campbell, from his colleagues on the 0.F.A., 1897." Mr Campbell, in returning thanks, gave a brief but interesting outline of facts in reference to hia connection with the Association from 1890 to the present year, when he was reluctantly compelled, through pressure of busiue3s, to sever his connection with the Otago Football Association.
