CHRISTCHURCH, December 8

At the Police Court this morning Fred, R. Gross, who at a former sitting pleaded guilty to four charges of selling whisky without having a wholesale license, was fined £lO on each charge, with costs, James Taylor alias Scottio alias Thompson was charged with being an incorrigible rogue without lawful means of subsistence. It was pointed out by the police that his appearance in any town was quickly followed by safe robberies and burglaries, and when he left they ceased. The prisoner was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment.
