COMMERCIAL.
The amount of revenue collected at the Customhouse on goods cleared to-day for consumption waß £451 6s sd. Business has been quiet in the import market during the week. Sugars have the usual inquiry at unchanged rates. In dried fruit', currants sell at Jjd ; sultanas up to sd; denies, 4Jd to 4jd. Kerosene moves off in trade lots at Is 4Jd. Dressed Japan rice, owing to cable advice of an advancing market, has had some little speculation. Current quotation is now £2O to £2010?. Patna also is firmer at £lO 10s. The business passing in spirits and beers has been up to the average.
THE LABOR MARKET.
Mr Skene reports: —This has been a slow week, principally given up to growling at the weather. A little patience, and the spring work and long days will soon set things going. It is folly to dig plough, or build in rain and mud. The demand is now limited to a few farm, dairy, and station hands, at moderate wages.
