A LOVE SICK MAORI COMMITS SUICIDE.

CHRISTCHURCH, July IL

Josiah White, a young Maori, shot himself yesterday at Kaiapoi. It appears to have been a love affair. He had proposed to a half-caste, but her parents objected, as she was under age. On Tuesday he asked the girl to allow him to shoot her, and said that he would then shoot himself, bub she dissauded him from carrying out his threat. He met her again yesterday, and after leaving her a shot was hcaid. He was found on the road with a wound in his heart.
