CAPE TOWN, July 9.
Alarmist cablegrams are being received reporting the prevalence of discontent at Fort Salisbury. The officers disagree upon the method of defence, and supplies are quoted at fabulous prices.
White relieved Fort Charter, marching from Buluwayo in twelve days and defeating the rebels. He found the insurrection extended all along the route.
Beal has relieved 200 whites who were beleaguered at Egforn.
July 10,
Lord Grey, administrator of the Chartered Company, has accepted the offer of the Cape Government to transport a corps to Rhodesia on condition that the company pay #he cost. The corps has been ordered to proceed to Beira. Ware’s patrol burned many kraals, and killed fifteen of the enemy, who took refuge in caves.
