LAND BOARD.

At thp usual meeting of the Land Board to-day there were present Messrs W. Dallas (in the chair), H. Clark, and A. M'Kerrow.

The Warden reported upon an application by Thomas J. Pearce to purchase section 47, block 1, Lower Wanaka.—To be allowed tp acquire for cash at 10s per acre capital value; a reserve of two chains to bo granted along the riverside.

E- Jones applied for a renewal of his license to occupy quarry reserve section 40, block 1, Gatlins.—Granted on usual terms.

Ranger Atkinson reported upon sections 12 and 14, block 4, Tiger Hill, at present held under temporary license by Thomas Anderson.—Recommended for notification at capital value of 15s per acre. Valuation for improvements, £lOl 19s fid, subject to approval of Governor. VV. F. Inder, on behalf of Thomas Stevens, applied for a reduction of rent upon sections 27 and 29, block 1, Naseby, held under temporary license.—Declined. T. J. Francis applied to be allowed to acquire portion of land between the roads at Eden Hill, fronting section 15, block 7, Naseby.—Referred to District Surveyor to report.

The Board were requested to sanction the following mortgages under the Advances to Settlers Act :—John Byers, section 36, block 9, Glenomaru ; David Wright, section 50, block 3, Glenomaru.—Approved, F. Stephens and A, Dalziel applied for the right ftf grazing over sections 23, 24, 26, 27, and 29, block 4, Tuapeka West.—Referred to Commissioner to arrange. Thomas Chalmer, on behalf of James Kennedy, lessee of sections 8 and 22, block 5, sections 1 and 2, block 8, and sections I, 2, and 3, block 9, Dunback, applied for compensation for damage done to his holding by mining operations.—Referred to warden for report.

The following applications wfere approved : —For rural laud on lease in perpetuity under Land for Settlements Act; T. I). Ward, section 69, block 8, Moeraki; James Riddle, section 70, block 8, Moeraki. For rural land on occupation with right of purchase: William E. Mitchell, section2o, block 7, Tuapeka West. To complete purchase of deferred payment land : J. B. Ewart, section 6, block 6j Mount Hyde ; John Robertson, section 9, block 9, Waitahuna West ; D. Robertson, section 23, block 10, Waitahuna West; Daniel Keenan, section 11, block 11, Waitahuna West; Ross Crozier, section 19, block 5, Table Hill. The Farmers’ Agency Company, on behalf of W. R. Seville, applied to purchase 60 acres on small-grazing run 220e, Tiger Hill. —Declined.

The same company, on behalf of W. R. Neville, also applied to be allowed to put improvements upon land held under temporary license, runs 220e and 220f, Tiger Hill.—Declined.

The following applications for reduction of rent on perpetual leases were received : James Reid, sections 8, 9, 17, 18, and 19, block 1, Upper Wakatipu; Robert Elliot, section 21, block 1, Upper Wakatipu ; Mark Harris, section 20, block 1, Upper Wakatipu ; James Wilson, sections 22, 23, and 24, block 1, Upper Wakatipu.—Applications declined, as Board had no power to reduce rent.

T. Taylor applied to transfer smallgrazing run 204 c, Rock and Pillar, to P. M'Atamney.—Referred to ranger to report. William Murcott applied'for a grazing license over section 11, block 13, Moeraki.— Referred to Commissioner of Crown Lands to arrange.
