'The Bible's Own Account of Itself,' advertised as ■ the subject of the evening, proved to be a somewhat lengthy pamphlet by Mr Edward Maitland, who concerneaWumseU with giving instances of the symbolism: used by the ancioub Hebrews and by the gnostics of the early centuries of our era, and applying them to the narrative portions of the Scriptures. The story of the Flood was thuq disposed of to the entire satisfaction of the author of the pamphlet, but some of those present took exception to the new interpretation, and discussion ensued.
