DUNEDIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— lt is a pity that this body wrecks a possible utility in its efforts to wound the Government. Instead of being a force in commercial circles it has degenerated into a gathering of political partisans, and the natural result is that the bulk of commercial intelligence is absent from its councils. This is to be regretted, as there are many questions that could be dealt with by a oody of unbiased traders who abstained from party politics. The findings and recommendations of the present so-called Chamber of Commerce have no weight outside their own bo ly, and it is significant that very few retailers take any part in the proceedings.— I am, etc., ' Commerce. Dunedin, July 30.
