AMBULANCE LECTURES.

• The monthly meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin centre of the St. John Ambulance. Association was held at . the Garrison 'Hall on Tuesday evening, when a considerable amount of business was transacted. It was stated that Dr De Lautour, of Oamaru, had kindly consented to examine the men’s and women’s first aid classes which have been conducted at Palmerston by Dr Hislop, while Dr Fleming, of Balclutha, had given his services as examiner of the men’s class at Kaitangata, which Dr Thomson has had in hand. It was announced that the patent stretcher, with attachments, for use in connection with the lifting of injured persons from the holds of vessels, etc., which was ordered some time ago by the Association, had now arrived, and it was resolved to ask.the Harbor Board to take charge and locate it inaplaceconvqnient for the shipping. A trial of the apparatus will be made shortly, jho medallions for last year’s pupils are expected to be delivered in the course of a Week or so. ,Dr Jeffcoat has given his services as lecturer for the nursing course. • The examination of the men’s first aid class, which has been instructed by Dr Barnett, look place at the Fire Brigade Station last evening by Drs Macpherson and Teevan. Forty candidates presented themselves-
