HOBART, August 16,
The Legislative Council rejected the totalizator tax, and.also struck out from the Assessment Bill the provision to obtain the assessment of unimproved land, thus rendering the measure inoperative. The Government are considering what action they shall take, bcillg pledged to introduce an unimproved land tax next year.
