He (counsel) would ask His Worship to be us lenient »s possible, defendant haying a wife and family to support.—His Worship made an order for payment of thp amount by monthly instalments of 30s, in default ten days’ imprisonment Herbert, Haynes, and Co. v. Peter Harrington (Ophir).— Claim, L 3 6s, balance of promissory note,—Defendant did not appear, and judgment was given for plaints for the amount claimed and costs. Gonlis, pulling, and Co. v. William Robertson. —Claim, LIJ? 10s 6d, on a judgment summons.—Mr Sm? for the plaintiffs, and asked for an' order against the defendant, order was made against the defendant to pay the amount by monthly instalments of 40s each, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment. Equitable Insurance Association of New Zealand (in liquidation) v. H. P. Barber.— Claim, LlO 7s Id, for calls due.—After evidence His Worship gave judgment for the plaintiffs for LlO 5s 8d and costs. CITY POLICE COURT. (Before Messrs J. Elmer and David Ferguson, Justices,) Drunkenness. —Robert Young (nine previous convictions) was fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Vaguancv. —William Huht pleaded guilty to a charge of this nature, Sergeant-major Bevin said that defendant was at one time an inmate of the Benevolent Institution, and since leaving had been loafing at street corners and begging.—Six previous convictions being proved, defendant was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Wandering Cattle. For permitting pattle to wander at large Jama Murphy was fined Is, without costs, on each of two charges, and John Mitchell sa, without costs.
