Some miners,, sinking in the Flat to prospect for a run of gold lost in the bank of the river, were drawing some timbers when the shaft collapsed, covering one of the men, Thomas P. Michelle, to a depth of Bft, and it is feared that another shaft will require to be sunk to enable the body to be recovered. Every exertion is being made to get down with the old shaft, but with very little result. Miohelle is a married man with a large family of young children. No hopes are entertained of getting the man ont alive.
