THE HINEMOA'S TRIP.

90 THE EDITOR.

Sjr,—This trip, carried out at the country's expense, is another instance of the extravagance of the present Government. Since last session closed nearly every member of the Ministry has been trotting about the colony electioneering at the taxpayers' expense. This Government is the most extravagant the oolony has had. I notice in your paper last night that Mr Shrimski, who went with the Hinemoa, publishes an account against himself, his wife, and a niece, frorn which it appears they have been charge/} for only one meal a day. The statementjn the account " five dayß, one meal" requires explanation. Was the orowd of Government supporters so greajc on board the steamer that they had to be put on short allowance ? How muoh did Mr Earn shaw pay for himself and his wife ? More }\v\)t is wanted on this excursion trip. I am, eta, Honesiy. Dunedjp, March 9. XO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have read the various letters on the subject of the Hinemoa'a trip with great interest, and must say I am very pleased with the Hon. S, E. Shrimski's reply, beoause it will let the public " know, you know," that they need not pay the Union Steam Ship Company Ll4 to go to the Sounds when the Hinemoa' can do the same trip for L2 per head. Surely, sir, there is something wrong somewhere, For my own part, I think it would have been better if Mr Shrimski had kept his meals bill in the dark $ but perhaps he thinks there is enough kept id the dark already.—l am, etc, Fred.
