VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
Volunteer officers waited on the Defence Minister at Chriatchurch yesterday to urge reasons for holding the Easter emoampment this year. Mr Seddon Baid he had taken tho op : nion of volunteers in Otago, through Colonel Webb, and had come to the conclusion that, ii £he interests of volunteers themselves, it would be better to wait until the new commandant arrived, and for tbs officers in the several diatrbtp to meet him then and discuss matters in Wellington, and afterward* arrange the best times and places for holding encampments.
