DR BARNARDO'S HOMES.

SO THB BDITOB. Sir,—l find that, unawares to me, my name haß been mentioned in connection with • parcel lor tie Barnardo Homes. If &»y credit is due for such a trifle it is due to those who did the work. A friend cave the pound of wool that started it. Kind friends volunteered to knit it np. Then Bundry pieces of Mosgiel olothlhapEened to have were made up (samples given y Ross and Glendining'a warehouse); three shillings, required for materials to make it all up into shape, were also given; and sundry pairs of loving hands made it up. I but gathered the material and hunted up the loving hands. We thought nothing of it, beyond the pleasure of doing something for suoh an object; and the having it mentioned makes ub feel ashamed that the little parcel wasnt ten times bigger. Indeed, had there been time, I think we might easily have got up a •'parlor sale of work," and so given the money instead of the things; for of the scraps that remained, that we hadn't time to work up, a parcel was sent to our own little orphanage at Woodhaugh. Perhaps we may have the "parlor sale" for it instead some time. There are some slight mistakes in the enumeration. For instance, there were eight flwinel petticoats, not shirts. But it doesn't matter. The whole thing was too insignificant to be put into print We will try and do a bigger thing neit time, for our credit's sakl-I am, etc., J. J. Hancock. Danedin, March 10.
