General Booth's Experiences.

ft appears that Mrs Elizabeth Orr Bell's legacy, estimated to produce between L60.0G0 and L 70.000, was in the early part of last year put aside by Genera} Booth as the foundation of a fund for the erection of an international temple and headquarters in London, and will not, therefore, be used for any other purposes. When the General and his two secretaries left England for their tour round the world all the cash they had between them was L 7 and LB, and for every penny of this they would have to account, on their return, to the Salvation Army oashier in London. All expenses inonrred by the General and his secretaries for etc., have been defrayed out of the receipts taken at the meetings conducted in the various countries, thus Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Jndia would share proportionately the ooßt of the trip. Seeing that in many of the places visited the General was granted free railway and steamboat passes, as in New Zealand, where the Government and the Union Steam Ship Company extended to him that favor, and, also, that everywhere the General was entertained by gentlemen who " delighted to do him honor," it is preposr terous to talk of his " spending a few thousands on his tour round the world." The object of the General's tour was not to " Ijeat up reornits and gather in more fnnds." He came first of all to make the acquaintance of thp colonial Salvation Army, and next to fix on a suitable site for the over-sea colony. AH moneys raised in any one colony as » result of General Booth's meetings, after all necessary expenses have been defrayed, remained in that colony for Army operations there,—Exchange. ■
