The Uinemoa returned this morning from her periodical visit to the Auckland, Campbell, Antipode, and Bounty Island', and brings back a marine relic in the shape of a teik wood skylight of a large vessel, which was picked np on the beach on Ewing Island, one of the Auckland group. Att-.ched to the skylight was a rope m*de out of a la r ge red and white cotton handkerchief that bad been torn into strips and been knotted together. Probably the unfortunate castaway found him elf getting numbed m the water, and as a last resource tore up the handkerchief, made the rope of it, and lashed himself to the skylight, in the hope of being washed on shore. By the look of the rope or strips of the handkerchief it has not been long in the water, as the color is retained. The skylight and rope are on beard tho Hinemoa, and can be seen by anyone intcre: ted.
