AN AWKWARD PREDICA MENT.
TIMARU, January 20. Diver Collis, while working under about 20ft of water on Saturday at a slip way, was seized by an octopus, 6ft 6in in the spread, which got hold of the timbers of the slip Collis had the presence of mind, on seeing the creature coming, to extend his arms and avoid having them pinned, and able, though with difficulty, to pull himself away by a life line and walk to and climb his ladder with the octopus around him.
