MEETINGS.

The fortnightly meeting of Valley Lodge, P.A.F.S.A., was held in lodge room, Puhlic Wall, North-east Valley, on Tuesday, the W.M., Bro. Blair, presiding. The officers for the ensuing year were installed by Bro. Charles Arnold, P.M. The Finance Committee reported favorably on the investment of the funds, and complimented the secretary and treasurer for the manner in which the accounts and balance-sheets were brought ou k . The receipts were L2 153 Gd.

Star of Freedom Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held their bi-weekly meeting in the Gocd Templar Hall, Kaikorai. on Wednesday, Bro. Flynn, C.T., in the chair. The Pennant Lodge, H.M.S. Lizard, were well represented, as was also the Lily of the Valley, Pride of Dunedin, Pacißo, and All Nations Lodge?. Songs and recitations were rendered by brothers and sisters of the various lodges, and by sorn? of the men-o'-wars-men.

The annual meeting of the Kaikorai Band was hold in the band room on Thursday, when the report and balance-sheet whioh were read showed the band to be in a favor ible position. The following officers were t-'ected for the ensuing year:—Secretary, Mr W. Meyer (reelected) ; assistant secretary, Mr P. Hally; treasurer, Mr A. Smith; committee-Messrs J. Brown, M'Lean, H. Ward, W. "Wakelin; auditors, Messrs W. Haigh and J. Webster ; trustees, Messrs J. Brown and P. Hally ; librarians, Messrs G. Wakelin and M'lntyre ; band sergeant, Mr John Haigh; conductor, Mr E. Stratton.

On Thursday evening the annual tea and public of the Otago district of the Congregational Union were held at Moray place Congregational Church; Rev. E- Walker presidhig. The annual report was presented by the secretary (Rev. F. D Cecil) and the treasurer (Mr R. Jack). Rev. W. M. Grant, of Port Chalmers, who lr president of the Otago district for the ensuing year, moved the adoption of the reports, which was teoonded by Mr F. Coull. Addresses were delivered, baaring upon the position, prospects, and dutieß of the Congregational churches in the present day, by the chairman and Mr J. W. Jago, who is the chairman of the Union for New Zealand. A hearty vote of thanks, on the motion of the Rev. E. P. Cecil, seoonded by the Rev. A. H. Wallace, was accorded to the retiring officers of the district and to the ladies who provided the tea. The half-yearly meeting of the Pioneer Lodge, 1.0.0.F,, was held in the Rattray street Ha'l on Tuesday evening. There was a fair attendance of members and a good muster of visitors from the Leith and Linden Lodges D.G.M. Bro T. Cole, assisted byP.DG.M. Bro. R. T. Wheeler and G.S. W. Reid, installed the following officers-viz.:— 1.P.G.. Bro. W, Thompson; N.G., Bro. P. Collier; V.G., Bro. L. Beissel; secretary, Bro. Snringer; treasurer, Bro. G. Jacobs; warden, Bro. Dunne; conductor, Bro, Springer'; .R.'S. to N.G, Bro. Cola. The trustees, Bros. Cole, Gourley, and Johnson, also the auditors, Bros. Benn tt, Latimer, and Michie, were re-elected. Physician, Bro. Dr Fergusson, A letter was received from G.S. Bro. Reid asking the cooperation of the various lodces for the purpose of erecting a suitable memorial to the late P.G.M. Bro. John Boyd. During the discussion which followed, a number of the brethren present testified to the large amount 'of interest the late brother always took in all things in connection with the Order, and G.S, Bro. Reid pointed out in his letter that the Order generally was greatly indebted to Bro. Boyd for its present sound financial position. A sum was voted from the lodge funds towards erepting a memorial. It was also resolved to is'ue subspriptiqn list* go that members of the various lodges should havp an opportunity of subscribing to the above laudable object. Beceipts, L4l 2s 7d.

The quarterly meeting of Court Enterprise, A.0.F., was held in the court room, Carroll's Hotel, on Tuesday evening, a large number of members being present; also, several visiting brethren from other courts. Auditor Bro W. Ibbotaon read the balance-sheets and auditors' rep rt for the past quarter, which were adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows:—O.R., Bro. C, W. Patton; 5.0. K., Bro. A. Hounson; treasurer, Bro. J. Jolly (re-elected); secretary, Bro. W, "Woodland (re-elected); S.'W., Bro. F. towry; J.W., Bro J. Oaten; 5.8., Bro. J. Gillies, jun; J. 8., Bro G. M'Lear. The following P.C.R.s were elected delegates to represent the court at the next annual district meeting:—Bros, C. H. Oaten, F. Turnbull, and W. Barrow. Bro. J. "w". Patton was elected auditor in place of Bro. Thurgarlacd retiring by effluxion of time. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers for thev.ery satisfactory manner they had carried out their duties. It was decided that P,O R. Bro. C. H. Oaten be presented with a P,O.R.'s certificate, framsd and glazed; also a P.O.R.'s neck ribbon, and that his name be placed on the respect board '" recognition of his services to the court, and the manner he conducted the business generally. A letter of recommendation was granted to P.O.R. Bro. G. Brook, to enable him to visit the courts in Australia, where he is about to sojourn. P.D.O.R. Bro. Melville installed the officers in their respective positions. Secretary Bro. Woodland read the financial statement for the yeai ending December 31,1889, which showed the ,ourt to be in a very flourishing condition. The number of members iritiated during the yea* was 29 (1 by. clearance and 28 by initiation),

making the number on the roll to be IC6; with funds amounting to L 3.219 5s 2Jd, the greater portion of which. is invested on mortgage averaging 7J per cent. The court had experienced a very heavy sick list during the year, having paid the large amount of L 172 3s 4d—the largest amount paid in one jear since its inception. The report was received. P.C.R. Bro. Benson returned thanks on behalf of Court Pride of Oamaru, S. C. R. Bro. Churchill on behalf of Couit Pride of Dunedin, and P.D.C.R. Bro. Williams on behalf of Caurt St. Andrew.
