TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—ln your issue of last evening a letter appeared over the signature of " Old Umpire," in which amongst other things he accuses me of making an unpleasant scene in the match Phoenix v. Warehousemen by challenging the decision of the umpire over a catch that was supposed to have been

made. This I most emphatically deny, as the ball in question went to another part of tho field from where I was fielding. Moreover, I am not in tbe habit of disputing any umpire, and I would strongly advise " Old Umpire " to state the true facts when he again rushes into print, especially on a subject that he evidently knew very little about.—l am, etc., James Haeraway. Dunedin, December 6.
