Dear Sir,— Being intimate with ore of the principal supervisors of excise here I sent him ft few dozen of Messrs Speight and Co.'s Dunedin Beer with the object of getting the opinion of the Excise Chemist on it; and lam glad to say he has pronounced it ono of the finest Boers he ever analysed, it having the high specific gravity of 10.80deg, the greatest amount of spirit and the least quantity of acid he ever came across. When I tell you that overy shipment of Beer going out of tho Clyde must be sampled by the excise officers and then analysed by their chemists, I consider this opinion is better than anything else I could say on it. At present the Beer is too flat to send to anyone not an expert in the trade; but as soon as it comes into condition I will have it distributed. Yours very truly, (Signed) ROBB, MOORE, AND CO. (Per H. S. Mooro). A Correspondent writes: — Please send me some more of that Speight's Ale you are bottling. I am very particular ! boot the beer I have, and hitherto have had a down on "Colonial," preferring to pay the nigher price for tho best brands of English Bottled Ale. I must confess, however, that what you have sent mo pleases mo in every reBpect as well as any I havo ever used. Perhaps the great diiferonoe in price between 10s and 14s a dozen has affected my judgment, but I do not think bo. At any rato, so long as you maintain the quality at tho samo standard you should be ablo to supplant tho imported article To John Barron, 29 Rattray street. lUIEINGOLD CIGARS. IHE following letter, which, among many - others, has recontly boon received, fully boars out the reputation claimed for tho above cigars : Grand Hotel, Dunedin, September 23,1889. During my visits to the colonies I have found it difficult to obtain good cigars at moderate prices. I have tried them at many prices, from 6d up to Is 6d each, but without satisfaction. I did not think of trying below 6d until a few RHEINGOLDS were offered me, and after smoking them I was convinced they were very good cigars, and wondered I had not hit on them before; but on learning their price I understood why I could not get them in the best hotels. , As an old smoker I can confidently assert that they are better than any cigar for which I have paid 6d in the innumerable hotels I have stayed at in tho Australasian colonies.
