JUBILEE CONVALESCENT FUND.
Tho annual meeting of the subscribers to and those interested in the Queen's Jubilee Convalescent Fund was hold at the Young Womens' Christian Association Rooms this afternoon; the President (Mrs J. Oliver) occupying the chair. There wa3 a good attendance.
'1 he following report was submitted: —Daring the past year seven convalescent cases have received help, in sums ranging from L 5 to LI. These patients have been sent for change of air to Queenstown, Invercargill, Mooraki, Roslyn, etc., according to the opinions of their medical men; while others were assisted to go to their friends in different parts of the colony. In every case the patients have been visited by the member of the Committee in whose district they resided, and, with only one exception, every case has been most satisfactory, tho patients returning to their home: veiy much benefitted by the rest and change of air. As the sum of money at our disposal is small, only a limited number can be assisted; but the Committee have, as far as was in their power, endeavored to help all applicants. Somo wl.c applied could not receive help, beins hospital patients. One of the rules is that' no one, having been an hospital patient, can receive help from the fund unless sho has been out of the hospital for six months. The Committee felt that the demands on them would be far more than they could meet without such a rule as this ; and, besides, they were made aware of the existence of a fund in connection with the hospital out of which patients can and very often have received help. The Conraitteo desire to thank His Worship the Mayor for his kindness in granting them the use of a room in the Town Hall for their üßual monthly meeting.
The motion for the adoption of the report was carried unanimously.
