CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.
The following is a summary of the reports to be presented at to-morrow’s meeting of the City Council: The Works Committee recommend that the application of Upper Maitland street residents for drainage connection with the Stafford stieet sewer be granted at a cost not exceeding LSQ, provided the residents contribute one-third of the expense; and that concrete channels be laid clown in Clyde avenue. The Committee report having accepted the terms for renewal of right of access by railway siding to the nightsoil dep6t at Wingatui. Accounts amounting to L 519 9s 2d have been passed for payment. The Water Supply Committee recommend that an additional inspector be appointed temporarily to prevent waste of water during the summer months. The Committee have declined to allow the erection of a shed on the roadline through the Woodhaugh Paper Mill property. They have agreed t > the Governor’s res’dence being supplied w.th water from the South Dunedin mains without any extra charge beyond the statutory price paid by the South Dunedin Council, so long as the building is in the occupation of His Excellency. The Gas Committee recommend that they be empowered to order a supply of heating burners at a cost not to exceed L3O.
The Finance Committee recommend that the dog registration fee for the year 1890 be 10s for each dog. Accounts amounting to L 1,743 13s od have been passed for payment. The Reserves Committee recommend that the head gardener’s requi-ition for material for tarring and sanding the main walks in the Botanical Gardens by prison labor be granted. The special committee re the reception of the Governor recommend that His Excellency be received by the Council on his arrival in Dunedin, and that a congratulatory address be presented.
