Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Dunedin, subject to any necessary alterations as under:— Local mails between Dunedin and Oamarn, also those for the Naseby line, will close at 7.15 a.m., and be forwarded by the 7.45 a.m, train. For Northern Ports, overland daily, at 10.30 a m., at Chief Post Office. Late letters, guard’s ■ran. North express train, at 11 a.m. The Post Office, Dunedin North, will bo cleared at 10 a.m, Thursday, October 31. For Southland, Australian Colonies, India, China, Japan, Continent of Europe, United Kingdom, etc. —Per Rotomahana, at 3 p.m. Money orders (for Australian Colonies only), registered letters, and newspapers, at 2 p.m. Late letters, guard’s van, Port Chalmers train, at 3.35 p.m. Letters for the United Kingdom must be specially addressed, and paid Is per scz. Friday, November 1. For Akaroa.—Per Mahinapua, at 5 p.m. Saturday, November 2. For Australian Colonies,—Per Wakatipu, at 10.30 a.m. Lato letters, North express, at 11 a.m. DIRECT MAIL SERVICE. Tuesday, October 29. The direct steamer Ruapehu will leave Wellington for London via Rio do Janeiro on Thursday, October 31. Mails for tho United Kingdom, etc., close at this office on Tuesday, October 29, at 10 a.m. Parcels for tho United Kingdom, per Ruapehu, will close at this office on Tuesday, 29th, at 9.30 a.m. Correspondence intended to be despatched by tho Ruapehu must bo specially addressed, lato letters guard’s van, North train, at 11 a,ra. SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SERVICE. Friday, November 1. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, the United Kingdom via San Francisco, Continent of Europe, Samoa, Sandwich Islands, United States of America, Canada, South America, and West Indies, etc,, at 10 a.m. Registered correspondence at 5 p.m., money orders at 4 p.m. on Thursday, tho 31st. Book packets and newspapers at 9 a.m. on Friday, tho Ist. Late letters, bearing an additional single rate of postage (6d) as a late fee, can bo posted in tho mail van attached to the North train leaving Dunedin railway stition at 11 a.m. on Friday, the Ist. The above mail will close at tho Branch Post Office, Dunedin North, for money orders at 4 p.ra., registered letters at 5 p.m. on tho 31st, and for letters at 9.30 a.m, and newspapers at 5 a.m. on the Ist. At the South Dunedin Office, for money orders at 4 p.m., and registered letters at 5 p.m. on the 31st; and for letters and newspapers at 5 a.m. on the Ist.
