He has substituted iron pipes for boxes for carrying the water from the drainage elevator into the river. He has placed in position a lino of pipes, with valve, etc., for a by-wash. He is also preparing pipes and other suitable plant, pending the arrival of the elevator castings from Dunedin. As soon as those arrive no time will be lost in getting them into position, should the height of the river permit. Sluicing will then be at once resumed. The secretary (Mr Burton), writing on the same matter, says the elevator and flanges will be up to-morrow night. The local shareholders are of opinion that Mr Peters thoroughly understands his business, and that when a start is made at sluicing there will be no more of these irritating and costly breakages and consequent stoppage?, which have so severely tried the patience and resources of shareholders.
