LAWRENCE, October 25.

There was a slight fall of snow here this morning. There is a coating of three inches in depth on the Waipori heights. A large number of applications for claims, water races, etc., came before the Warden's Court this morning. A Dunedin syndicate have purchased O'Brien's deep - lead claim at Waipori, also three other large special claims adjoining. A company is to be formed tn work the property, which is regarded as one of the best mining investments in Otago. Sheehy's claim at Miller Vl&t is now on the market. A large number of shares will be taken up in this and the Roxburgh districts.
