We understand that tho Ministry will be represented at the Exhibition opening by the Premier, Hons. Captain Russell, T. Fergus, E. Mitchelson, T. W. Hislop, and E. C. J. Stevens, Probably Sir F. V\ hitaker and the Hon. G. F. Richardson will remain in Wellington to represent the Government. On his Southern tour of inspection, Majorgeneral Edwards will be accompanied by the Hon. T. Fergus, who, on his return, will hand over the portfolio of Defence to Captain Russell. We hear that it has been determined to appoint Mr Friend, committee clerk, to tho clerkship of Parliament (rendered vacant by the resignation of Major Campbell), and Mr Otterson will become committee clerk, Mr Rutherford at the same time receiving the latter’s post.
