(Received October 17, 1889, at 1.X5 p.m.) The Local Option League, in response to a communication from the New Zealand Alliance, have expressed their willingness to contribute pro rata to Canon Wilberforce’s mission. PERSONAL; BRISBANE, October 17. Mr W. Pattison has resigned his position (without portfolio) in the Queensland Ministry owing to the pressure of private business. INTERFERING WITH NONUNIONISTS. BRISBANE, October 17. The sailors on the Balmoral Castle, who were arrested for preventing non-union men working on the steamer, have been either fined or sentenced to short terms of imprisonment.
