THE LONDON WOOL SALES.
The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 15th inst. :—" The wool sales closed firmly this day. Since the close of last sales the following advance in prices have taken place: Greasy, |d to Id; combing (washed), Id ; clothing (washed), Jd to Id; scoured and fine scoured crossbred, each Id; coarse greasy cross-bred and coarse sconred cross-bred, each £d ; scoured merino lambs and greasy merino lambs, each £d to Id; and greasy cross-bred, £d per lb. The sales comprise about 230,000 bales. Three thousand bales have been held over for future disposal, and 110,000 bales have been taken for export." The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated the 15th inst. :—" The sales have closed firm. As compared with closing rates of last series prices are higher for greasy, Id for good combing scoured, and for coarse cross bred. The lower classes of scoured are unchanged. The total quantity sold is 221,000 bales, of which 110,000 bales have been taken for export. Stocks in consumers hands are small, and general state of trade good."
