The capital of tho company is fixed at L 1,500,000, with borrowing powers not exceeding L 375,000, whilst the time granted for tho completion of the works, including a dock at (Sheffield, is seven years. Power is also given to tho company to pay interest out of capital during the construction of the works. The scheme has now been sanctioned by both Houses.

The Alhambra Football C ub held their fifth annual ball on Friday evening in the North Dunedin Hall, over seventy couples attending. Mr Bruton’s band supplied the music, and gave every satisfaction; Messrs Moyers and Son catered. During the evening Mr MacLaugblin (captain of tho Club) presented Mr Stone with an enlarged photo splendidly mounted and framed, with tho following engraved on it: “ Presented to Mr Stone as a mark of esteem by tho Alhambra Football Club.” Mr Stone returned thanks in a very happy speech.
