The whole of to-day’s sitting of the Resident Magistrate’s Court was taken up by the hearing of the case of Isabella Fraser v. Richard Birchall, a claim of L 3, money alleged to be due by defendant to plaintiff in connection with the sale of a horse. Mr A. Adams appeared for plaintiff; Mr W. Macgrcgor for defendant. The case had not concluded when we went to press. At Methven (Canterbury) yesterday Alexander Greenhill fell off a loaded dray he was driving, the wheel of the dray passing over his chest and killing him. At the District Court, Queenstown, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty in the charge of perjury preferred against John Shanahan. The newest waistcoat, that which shines inside the French spring jackets of tancolored cloth, is made of gold cloth, and ought to be fairly safe from imitation. These waistcoats are embroidered in cream color, and the jackets are fitted with cuffs of gold cloth, coming from the inside of the cloth sleeve, which is turned back to make a cuff for itself and is finished with stitching like that on th v. long, slender lapels.
