Captain Bendall (marine surveyor to the Underwriters’ Association) and divers returned from the wreck of the Koranui this evening, having been successful in recovering L 21,000 worth of gold, which was secured in the captain’s cabin. On the first attempt the divers found the sea too heavy, but at the second attempt the weather was more favorable, and little difficulty was experienced, Captain Bendall states that no examination of the vessel was made, but from appearances she is but little injured.
