Only in the United States does the pay exceed the pay in Great Fritain. In America an admiral receives L 2,600, a vice-admiral LI,BOO, a rear-admiral L 1,200, a captain L9OO. a commander L7OO, a lieutenant from L 520 to L6OO, a sub-lieutenant (ensign) from LUO to LIBO, and a naval cadet (at sea) LlOOa
