The revenue collected at the Customhouse, Dunedin, during the month of September (less refunds) was L3G.897 5s 10a, as against L 28.205 3s Id for the corresponding period of last year—an increase of L 8.692 2s 9d.
The revenue for the September quarter shows a marked increase on last year, principally in ad valorem goods ; indeed, it is satisfactory to note that the total is the largest received during any quarter of the past five years. The total for the quarter ending this day amounted to LI 11,102 16s 4d ; for the September quarter of 1888 it was L 92,817 17s Gd, an increase in favor of the present quarter of L 18,284 IBs lOd. The gold duty for this quarter was L 585 15s 7d, and the beer duty L1,G02 2s lid.
