WELLINGTON, Sbkmusb 21. The total number of unemployed now in the oolony is 237. The following wore prize-winners at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts' Ezhibition, which opened to-day : Landscape in oil, H. M. Gore; panels in oil, Miss F. K. Richardson; president's prize ('Still Life'), Miss M. Hill; model bust. Miss H. M. Archibald ; instantaneous photography, Henry Wright; untouched landscape photo, F. W. Halse. The statement that the child Thomson's body was found at Carterton with its head severed proves to be a myth. The corpse was intact, and the jury returned a verdict of " Died from exposure.'' NEW PLYMOUTH, September 21.
There is a great scarcity of labor in tho New Plymouth district, and advertisements are appearing daily for busbmen (fifty wanted), farm hands, and hands for flaxmills.
