Pokt .Chalmers.— A special meeting last taight was attended by the Mayor (Mr E. 6. Alien! Crs ..Schumacher, Mitchell, Watson, lanes ’Read, iDKcnzie, Murray. PulUr.--The Mayor .stated that the meeting baa been called for the purpose of receiving the report of the Building Committee prior to the Council taking over the new municipal buildings. The gentlemen edited the previous day had been members last year. It was not necessary for him to say iiiacli to them, beyond expressing a hope that would work harmoniously together and for the good of the town. Gf course, he need hardly say that the strictest economy would be necessary during the coming year. Ihe -report of the Building Committee was adopted.—A discussion took place regarding the absence of fittings-such as seats, tables, etc —in the Council Chamber, during which it was stated that the contractor alleged that the LSO included in the specifications for fitting up the chamber had been extpended in decorating it. It was eventodly -resolved to retain L 6 to erect a flagstaff an* .refer the matter of seating to the Blinding .Committee to arrange.
