THE FOOTBALL DINNER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, Kindly permit mo to correct a wrong impression which your condensed report of my speech in proposing the health of the Auckland team might convey to those who are not acquainted with tho principle that has always been adopted by the Otago Rugby Union when sending teams to play other provinces. It is the pride and boast of our Union that wo have never taken gate money from others, and have never even solicited it. The Otago Rugby Union guards zealously the amateur barrier, and in the best interests of the game I hope it will ever be so. —1 am, etc., Millex Couuiitrey, President Otago Rugby Union. Dunedin, September 11.
