The amount of revenue collected at tho Custom-house on goods cleared to- lay for consumption was Ll,olßlßs 9d. The ‘Argus’ of the 6th inst. records a notable transaction by Messrs Clarke and 00., brokers—namely, the sale in one line of 2,250 shares in tho Broken Hill Proprietary Company, at LSO per share, on account of Mr P. K. M'Caughan. The purchase-money amounts to L 112,500, and it is stated that this is the largest single transaction ever effected in the Australian share market, and falls not far short of the gross value of tho total sales of the Stock Exchange of Melbourne on the busiest day of the “boom’’—viz., L 127.000, The price quoted is equivalent to a total of LSOO a share, prior to the subdivision, for each original L 25 share, and is by far the highest price ever paid for these shores, being LB7 above the maximum rate reached in tho “silver boom.” The directors of Kempthorne, Prosser, and Oo.’s New Zealand Drug Company declare an interim dividend at the rate oi 7 per cent, per annum.
