The meeting of the Albany ptre,et School Committee held last evening was attended by Messrs Fredrio (chairman), Eggera, Bennett, Carter, Wheeler, Newman, and M'Lean. The head-master reported the average attendance of scholars for the past month as follows: —Boys, 391; girls, 303 ; total number on the roll, 715. The police reporting that there were ten children in the district not attending any school, it was resolved that the chairman interview the' parents in the matter, and that the chairman use his discretion in granting holidays. The secretary was directed to write to Mr James, Allen, M.H.8,, to ascertain whether the. possession of a piece of land at the rear of the Pelichet IJay railway station could be obtained as a site for ttip proposed gym-' nasium.
