SERIOUS FIRE.

The bullock byre and stables on the Abbotsford farm, lately the property of Mr James Shand, and now owned by Mr William Patrick, butcher, of this City, were discovered to he on fire about eight o'clock last evening. The tire evidently started in the bullock byre, and quickly spread to the other portions of the building, which were totally destroyed. The property is valued at LI,OOO, anil is said to be insured in the South British office. Three draught horses belonging to a contractor named Stewart were also destroyed. The origin of the fire is at present unknown. General sympathy is felt for Mr Patrick in his unfortunate loss.
