(Received August S7, 1889, at 12.18 p.m.) A new system of telegraphic money order comes into operation on September 1. The maximum amount to be transmitted has been fixed at LlO. THE DOCK LABORERS’ STRIKE. LONDON, AtrcWi’ 26. Owing to the strike of dock laborers the coasting services are almost at a stindstill. Clerks in the offices of the different firms have been pressed into the service in loading and unloading coasting steamers, Mr Sydney Charles Buxton, M.P. for Poplar, poses as the champion of the strikers. THE LIVERPOOL MURDER. LONDON, August 26. Mrs Maybrick is seriously ill, and her condition is considered critical. Brierly, whose improper intimacy with Mrs Maybrick was proved at the trial, haß sailed for America. Before leaving he expressed his sorrow for what had occurred.
