A man named M'Namara has beeu arrested at Packenham on a c'large of murdering another man named Fry by splitting his head open with a slasher. A seam of brown coal 100 ft thick has been Btruck at Morrell, an important town on the Gippsland Railway line, eighty-eight miles east of Melbourne.
The Bill authorising the issue of L 2,600,000 worth of Treasury bills to cover the deficit has passed the House of Assembly.
