SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
———>• Arunna when measured the other day stord only 15.1. Whakawai ia nominally first favorite for the Caulfield Cup at 100 to 5 ; while Silvorton and Singapore divide favoritism for the Melbourne Cup at 100 to 6. A "dark horae " for the latter is said to be the Hon. W. Long's Daniel, by Neckersgat—Minnie, by Lucifer—Countess, by Fisherman, and bred by Sir Thomas Elder. The colt, who has been coupled with Singapore for a lot of money, made only ono appearance as a two-year-old, and that was in the First Nursery Handicap at the A.J.C. autumn meeting, when be carried Sat, but finished nowhere to Antaeus (7 2). Daniel carries 67 in both cups.
