The prize offered for the best design for a new theatre in Melbourno, to bo built on the site of the late Bijou, has been awarded to Mr G. R. Johnson. The cost of the new structure will probably be about L 22.000, but the architect has been instructed not to spare money in rendering the theatre worthy of the city. The Wellington Justices have recommended that children under 14 years should be prohibited from congregating in the streets after dark.
