INVERCARGILL, Aoc.u.st o. The Maori footballers arrived at the Bluff by the Rototnahana last night, and a large crowd gathered at the railway station to meet them this morning, but they did not orae on by the first train. They play a match against a Southland team on Wednesday.

The dispute between the manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company at San Francisco and the Pacific Insurance Union was amicably arranged at a meeting on Saturday. A compromise mutually satisfactory has been agreed to, the New Zealand Office being allowed to retain its paid manager at Los Angeles, and agreeing to withdraw its managers from other places in dispute. Among the passengers by the incoming 'Frisco mail steamer will be Mr Richard Uoad, lecturer for the United Kingdom Alliance, under engagement to the New Zealand Alliance. The City Hall has been engaged for a week's mission, and thereafter he will proceed South, WELLINGTON, Atocrt 5. Mr Jellicoe appears with a number of witneßßes before the Governor in Council this afternoon in support of his application on Chemis's behalf,
The Wellington Tram Company have purchased Cobb and Co.'s interest here, and also the patent rights for Wellington of Mr W. /. Young's palace cars, Cobb and Co, ceased running here to-day, and their plant will be shipped to Dunedin,
